Intern (Content & Video Editing)
I was the Content and Video Editing Intern with the Media Team of this company from June to August 2025. My daily tasks included brainstorming, writing, filming, and editing short-form, engaging social media content. We were often deployed to events organised by other teams within the company, where we would assist in operations or capture behind-the-scenes moments of our team in action. On other occasions, we conduct formal shoots for video requests from different companies, whether for corporate or promotional purposes. The fast-paced, varied environment provided valuable exposure to both in-house productions and client-driven events—experiences that will leave a lasting impact on my career.
Video Production Intern
I joined Changi Travel Services as a video production intern from January to July 2024, assisting the multimedia designer in producing content for the company. As the team was merely the both of us, we had to be in charge of the whole video production process from planning to filming and finally editing. Apart from video production, we also received requests from other departments for other types of content such as photos. This is a whole new venture for me as I got the chance to witness and participate in the content creation for the corporate sector. This was no doubt an extremely enriching and fulfilling journey of mine.
Undergraduate Student
I am currently a full-time undergraduate at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University. The courses offered provided me with greater exposure to the media industry and increased my knowledge of the theories behind certain decisions and actions observed. The many hands-on activities on professional equipment also trained me in the relevant skills required in the industry.
Exchange Student
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a semester exchange at National Chengchi University in Taipei from February to June 2026, as part of my Year 2 Semester 2 programme. The experience was truly exhilarating, allowing me to broaden my perspective and immerse myself in a world beyond Singapore. Taiwan’s market is comparatively larger, and many of my professors brought with them extensive industry experience, offering valuable insights that are difficult to find in textbooks or online resources.
Member
I joined this Co-Curricular Activity as a member from 2022-2023. In weekly CCA sessions, I picked up many new skills from the trainers and had the chance to practice on industry-used platforms. We also have opportunities to participate in various competitions, learning more from other participants as well. The school would also often engage us to produce different videos for the school's use, such as videos to celebrate the various festivals and themed videos shown during orientations.
Freelance Photographer
Keepers Cove is a restored colonial black-and-white house in Seletar that hosts intimate celebrations, photoshoots, and family gatherings. Through its Lightkeepers Photography programme, I was trained to document clients' special occasions using professional photography equipment. I was also responsible for editing and post-processing photographs to ensure consistent image quality, colour accuracy, and a polished final gallery. This role strengthened my event photography and post-production skills while allowing me to capture genuine, candid moments that families and loved ones can cherish and revisit for years to come.
Entertainment Usher
I joined Marina Bay Sands as a part-time Entertainment Usher during my university semester. In this role, I had the opportunity to support a wide range of events and observe firsthand how they were executed with exceptional precision and professionalism. Working for a globally recognised hospitality and entertainment brand gave me valuable insight into the high standards required to uphold its reputation on an international stage. The experience also exposed me to the operational aspects of a large-scale hospitality organisation, broadening my understanding of event management and service operations.
Freelance Videographer & Editor
Having met Chef Charles Leow through a course assignment, we agreed to support each other in building our respective careers. He would invite us to his events and activities, providing us with the opportunity to practice and refine our skills in food photography and videography. In return, we would share our work with him to be featured on his social media platforms, helping to document and promote his events. These experiences not only increased our exposure but also contributed to the development of a stronger portfolio. It has been an incredibly valuable opportunity for us as aspiring media professionals.
Freelance Editor
My friend previously worked in the real estate industry and, even after leaving, continued to assist them on a freelance basis. She introduced me to freelance opportunities with the company, which led me to start editing short-form videos for commercial purposes, which is a field quite different from my previous experience. Unlike the humorous or highly engaging content I had worked on before, these videos aim to clearly showcase the features of the properties. This has given me the chance to develop a completely new approach to editing.
Digital Platform Manager
Owing to being a family business, I was handed the opportunity to assist the company in its digitalisation process. Hence, I proceeded with creating an official website, organising the relevant information about the products and services we provide. In addition, social media accounts were created to help in the company's marketing efforts. The corporate video and social media posts handled all by myself were also subsequently uploaded onto the platforms. Although the results are not top-notch, it was a great learning experience for me.
Student
In addition to my undergraduate programme in Communication Studies, I pursued a second major in Business at Nanyang Business School to complement my skill set. This combination allowed me to gain a well-rounded education, blending creative communication with practical business knowledge. The business courses expanded my perspective on how organisations function, covering areas such as management, marketing, accounting, finance and operations. This multidisciplinary approach enhanced my ability to analyse real-world business challenges critically and apply strategic thinking in various professional contexts.
