Spur Media Group is an award-winning full-service integrated agency providing end-to-end solutions from concept, strategy to execution. They create market-leading campaigns and productions across live, hybrid and digital forms, optimising audience communication and brand experience.
I was the Content and Video Editing Intern with the Media Team of this company from June to December 2025. My daily tasks included brainstorming, scripting, filming, and editing short-form, engaging social media content. We were often deployed to events organised by other teams within the company, where we would assist in operations or capture behind-the-scenes moments of our team in action. On other occasions, we conduct formal shoots for video requests from different companies, whether for corporate or promotional purposes.
Additionally, these companies are under Jeff Goh, a YES933 DJ who hosts the weekday morning programme, The Daka Show. Hence, many of our projects also intersect with the radio and broadcast industry, in addition to in-house productions and client-driven events. Every day at this company brought a new experience, which was truly an eye-opener. These moments will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on my future career.
Star Awards 2025 Backstage Live | 红星大奖2025 幕后直击
The annual Star Awards is a platform for Mediacorp to honour and celebrate local creativity and talent. Since its inception in 1994, it has been instrumental in showcasing Singapore stories and nurturing talent, including the recognition of some of the biggest local stars. This year, the Star Awards 2025 marks a significant milestone, celebrating its 30-year journey with the meaningful theme, "Walking Through Time Together."
In addition to the main awards ceremony, Spur Media Group is proud to have been entrusted with producing the backstage livestream of the event. The seven-hour program is divided into three segments. The first segment features a backstage raid, offering a glimpse into how the artistes prepare for the ceremony, followed by a Walk of Fame commentary. As the main show begins, the program transitions into a discussion of the various award categories while capturing the raw emotions of the winners as they exit the stage. These are the moments you won’t see on national television, and they will be shared exclusively through the backstage livestream.

I was extremely fortunate to be part of the behind-the-scenes crew for this special event, serving as the assistant producer for one of the roving teams. Our role was to guide the hosts around the Mediacorp campus and conduct on-site interviews with the artistes. Given that we were constantly moving around and were far from the main base and control console, we heavily relied on clear communication and cues through the intercom system. We had to stay agile, ready to adapt to any last-minute changes to the program, all while locating and briefing artistes for their interviews.
The months of preparation leading up to the event — from initial planning to the final countdown to showtime — were intense. Long hours of work stretched well into the night, and though it was incredibly taxing, it also served as a testament to our stamina and motivation to deliver a successful show. Despite facing mistakes and numerous challenges throughout, I still consider this eye-opening experience to be both extremely enriching and fulfilling. It provided me with invaluable insights into live broadcasting, and I also learned how to work more efficiently as part of a team, especially under the pressure of racing against time.

Event Participation & Involvement
I had the opportunity to enhance my videography skills using my DJI Osmo Pocket 3, gaining valuable hands-on experience throughout the process. I also expanded my horizons by witnessing how major events are executed, observing collaboration among multiple stakeholder groups, and learning from industry experts along the way. It was an honour to be part of the behind-the-scenes crew for the following events.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the house! In an exclusive meet-and-greet session, the Ferrari F1 drivers made a special appearance ahead of their races. I was extremely fortunate to be part of this memorable event, working behind the scenes to capture moments of both the drivers and the fans.

Accelerate Your Dreams - F1 Appreciation Dinner
This was an internal dinner event hosted by AIA and Citibank to thank their customers for their continued support.
2025 UOB Heartbeat Run
Thousands of participants gathered at the Promontory for a charity run, complemented by carnival games and engaging performances. This event was one of the most challenging for me, especially under the relentless sun, but it proved to be an invaluable learning experience.

60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Gala
To celebrate 60 years of travel, Chan Brothers Travel hosted an anniversary dinner, inviting all staff members and affiliates to join the celebration. More than just a dinner, I was glad to be part of documenting the activities for this special day.
SPH Her World Women Of The Year
In its 65th year of honouring Singaporean women, the company was proud to deliver this special event, graced by former President Madam Halimah Yacob. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this meaningful occasion.
Blackpink In Your Area Activation
To elevate the experience for the 160,000 concertgoers and fellow BLACKPINK fans, three experiential booths were designed to give them the opportunity to capture social-media-worthy photos. Rain or shine, the excitement never faded, and I was glad to witness and capture these memorable moments.
Daka Fanmeet
Star Awards 2025 was incredibly memorable for The Daka Show. Jeff, Chen Ning and Mei Gui have all won awards in the Top 10 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes categories. To celebrate this achievement and thank everyone for voting, a fan meet-and-greet event was held at At Tea, where listeners enjoyed a free drink and had the chance to interact with the Daka trio.
We began setting up the space hours before the event, which included putting up the Daka flags, displaying A1 foam boards, and preparing props for photo-taking. We then filmed the entire event — from the moment the DAKAs arrived to their final wave goodbye. It was a smooth, successful, and truly memorable event. This final video was edited by my colleague, capturing the key moments on the day.

Office Renovation
Spur Media Group is excited to announce its relocation to a new office after around ten years. The entire renovation process has been documented to capture this special journey. From the initial clearing to the final office tour reveal, various partners contributed to different stages of the process, and several videos were produced. This was one of the longest and most challenging projects I was involved in during my internship. Due to several disruptions, the video faced multiple delays, extending its production period to over a month. Additionally, this is also one of the longest videos produced by Jest Media.
The purpose of this video was to thank our sponsors while also introducing our online followers to our new office. As a result, we had to incorporate a lot of technical information provided by our featured partners on their products. The scriptwriting process was especially tedious. Our goal was to make the video both informative and engaging, which required careful balance. Filming took an entire day, and the editing process was further delayed due to the Star Awards period. B-rolls and voiceovers also encountered delays, and we worked up until the very last minute to complete it.
Overall, however, it was one of the most memorable projects of my internship. I felt deeply involved in nearly every stage of the process to ensure the video was finished on time. It was truly an exhilarating experience.

During off-peak periods for events, Jest Media experiments with in-house productions or taps into trending formats to create humorous content that engages audiences on social media platforms. Surely Pte Ltd is one such venture — a series centered on a too-good-to-be-true company, designed to entertain while drawing in viewers. Although the series did not progress very far, it provided me with the opportunity to produce a project entirely from scratch. This included everything from initial scripting and prop preparation to filming and final editing, and the experience proved to be a valuable learning process.

#06-88 Team Bonding
After moving into a new office, with unit number #06-88, the team started a monthly themed cook-off in the pantry as a team-bonding activity. Everyone would prepare food and dress up according to the theme, and I edited the videos documenting these sessions.

Beyond the company’s planning and execution of events, Jeff, as a radio personality, frequently takes on hosting gigs for a variety of events. As such, hosting reels will be edited and posted on his personal social media accounts to highlight both the events and his role as host. On other occasions, when he serves as the creative director for events and shows, reels showcasing his point of view and behind-the-scenes work will also be produced. Additional content from his perspective will be created for his social media, including highlights such as a year-in-review and his attendance at award ceremonies.

While preparations for Star Awards 2025 Backstage Live were underway, the media team also focused our efforts on rallying votes for Jeff, who was nominated for Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. We tapped into online trends, adding our own humorous twists to make the content more engaging and appealing to his followers, encouraging them to vote for him daily. In addition to video shoots, we also assisted Jeff with his voice recordings as part of his role as a radio DJ. These recordings were recorded separately, then pieced together with the parts from other DJs and broadcasted on YES933 during the advertisement period. The Memories
My internship was filled with meaningful memories that I hold close to my heart. Despite being a small team, the company had a strong sense of camaraderie. Each event also introduced me to new colleagues who became both work partners and friends.
